On-Leash Obedience Program
While on-leash, your dog will learn the basic commands (Sit, Down, Come, Heel and Free) as well as the two most important words to a dog. These words are "Good" and "No." In addition to the general obedience commands, we can customize the program to deal with other behavioral issues. After completing On-Leash Obedience at Bart Avenue, you will have control of your dog in the types of situations where good behavior is required. On-Leash Obedience is designed to set your dog up for Off-Leash Obedience.
Off-Leash Obedience Program (Lifetime Obedience Program) Off-leash obedience is designed to teach your dog that it should be obedient regardless of distractions. While we do not recommend you allow your dog off-leash where it is not allowed, we know there are situations in which off-leash obedience is important. Imagine being able to call your dog back from a wild game of chase at doggie park without having to chase him/her around yourself. More seriously, leashes and collars can break. Strong off-leash obedience may save your dog's life in these situations. This program also includes free follow-up group classes for as long as you own your dog. Our on-leash program is a prerequisite for this program.
Therapy Dog Preparation Training | Back To Top | This program is designed to prepare your dog for the rigorous tests for Therapy Dog programs. Therapy dogs are dogs that have been specially trained to work in hospitals and rehabilitation facilities, assisting patients. These dogs are owned by volunteers who generously donate their time and their dog's time to help others. It is very rewarding for the dog, the owner and the patient. Therapy dogs must have absolutely rock solid temperaments and very strong obedience training. While we cannot guarantee that your dog will pass the test, this program is the best place to get started.
Agility | Back To Top | Not available at this time. Please check back. We will post when it is available.
Aggression Management | Back To Top | Aggression Management training is designed to help owners of overly protective or defensive dogs. Often, dogs who have not had sufficient obedience training can become defensive or aggressive. This can be true of all breeds from large working breeds all the way down to small lap dogs. The exact methods and techniques vary and are dictated by the needs of the individual dog.
